The PART TIME ind icator light, located on the instru -
ment cluster, illuminates when the transfer case is shifted
to the 4 PART TIME position.

Do not attem pt to make a shift while only the
fron t or rear wheels are spinning. The Selec-Trac
tran sfer case is not equipped with a syn chron izer
and therefore the fron t and rear drivesh aft speed s
must be equal for the shift to tak e place. Shiftin g
while only the fron t or rear wheels are spinning
can cause damage to the tran sfer case.
The FULL TIME ind icator light, located on the instru -
ment cluster, illuminates when the transfer case is shifted
to the 4 FULL TIME position.
The 4LO MODE ind icator light, located on the instru -
ment cluster, illuminates when the transfer case is shifted
to the 4LO position. There is no light for the 2WD, or N
(Neutral) positions.

When operatin g you r veh icle in 4LO, the engin e
speed is approxim ately three tim es that of the
2WD, 4 PART TIM E, or 4 FULL TIM E position s at
a given road speed . Take care not to oversp eed the
engin e and do not exceed 25 mph (40 km/h).
