STARTINGANDOPERATING
Shouldyourvehiclerunoutoffuel,thefuelsystemmust
bere-primedinordertostarttheengine.Factorssuchas
temperature,whichaffectstheviscosityofthefuel,how
long the vehicle has been sitting and other factors will
influencehowquicklytheenginestarts.
Re-PrimingtheDieselFuelSystem
The following procedure must be followed after com-
pletelyrunningoutoffuel.
1.
Addaminimumof2gallons(7.57L)ofdieselfuelto
thefueltank.

Openthehood.
HandPrimePump
Depressthefuel-waterseparatorknob20consecutive
4. Turn the ignition to START and crank the engine a
maximum of 10 seconds. If the engine does not start,
repeatStep3.

NOTE:
The engine will typically start within 10 sec-
onds;theenginewillidlethenstall,purgingairfromthe
fuellinesandfilter.
