singlechimewillsoundifthelightcomesonagainafter
initialstartup.
inflatethefrontairbags.Differentairbaginflationrates
maybepossiblebasedoncollisionseverityandoccu-
pantsize.Thesteeringwheelhubtrimcoverandthe
upperrightsideoftheinstrumentpanelseparateand
foldoutofthewayasthebagsinflatetotheirfullsize.
Thebagsfullyinflateinabout50–70milliseconds.This
isabouthalfofthetimeittakestoblinkyoureyes.The
bagsthenquicklydeflatewhilehelpingtorestrainthe
driverandfrontpassenger.

IgnoringtheAIRBAGwarninglightinyourinstru-
mentpanelcouldmeanyouwon’thavetheairbags
to protect you in a collision. If the light does not
comeon,staysonafteryoustartthevehicle,orifit
comes on as you drive, have the airbag system
checkedrightaway.
The driver’s front airbag gas is vented through vent
holesinthesidesoftheairbag.Thepassenger’sfront
airbaggasisventedthroughventholesinthesidesof
theairbag.Inthiswaytheairbagsdonotinterferewith
yourcontrolofthevehicle.
The Driver and Passenger Airbag/Inflator Units are
locatedinthecenterofthesteeringwheelandtheright
sideoftheinstrumentpanel.WhentheORCdetectsa
collision requiring the airbags, it signals the inflator
units.Alargequantityofnontoxicgasisgeneratedto
