manufacturer’sinstructions.
Ifthesafetyseatisnotanchoredproperly,theriskofachild
beinginjuredinacollisiongreatlyincreases.
Attaching child safety seats with Lower Anchor and Tethers for
Children (LATCH) attachments for child seat anchors
Somechildsafetyseatshavetworigidorwebbingmountedattachments
thatconnecttotwoanchorsatspecificseatingpositionsinyourvehicle.
Thistypeofchildseateliminatestheneedtousesafetybeltstoattach
thechildseat.Forforward-facingchildseats,thetetherstrapmustalso
beattachedtothepropertetheranchorpoint.Forinformationonusing
tetherstrapswiththechildsafetyseats,refertoAttachingsafetyseats
withtetherstrapsinthischapter.
LATCHanchorsforchildseat
installationhavebeenprovidedin
yourvehicleatthefollowing
locations:
Theanchorsonbothsidesofthe
centeroftherearseatareprovided
primarilyforchildseatsatthe
outboardseatsandarefurtherapart
thanthepairsofloweranchorsfor
childseatinstallationatotherseats.AchildseatwithrigidLATCH
attachmentscannotbeinstalledatthecenterrearseat.Achildseatwith
LATCHattachmentsonbeltwebbingcanbeusedatthecenterrearseat
unlessachildseatatanoutboardrearseatisattachedtooneofthese
loweranchors.Installachildseatontotheloweranchorsatthecenter
rearseatONLYIFthechildrestraintmanufacturerrecommendsthatthe
childseatcanbeinstalledtoanchorsthatarespacedupto450mm
apart.
NeverattachtwoLATCHchildsafetyseatstothesameanchor.
Inacrash,oneanchormaynotbestrongenoughtoholdtwo
childseatattachmentsandmaybreak,causingseriousinjuryordeath.
