Highwayhazards
Nomatterhowcarefullyyoudrivethere’salwaysthepossibilitythatyou
mayeventuallyhaveaflattireonthehighway.Driveslowlytothe
closestsafeareaoutoftraffic.Thismayfurtherdamagetheflattire,but
yoursafetyismoreimportant.
Ifyoufeelasuddenvibrationorridedisturbancewhiledriving,oryou
suspectyourtireorvehiclehasbeendamaged,immediatelyreduceyour
speed.Drivewithcautionuntilyoucansafelypullofftheroad.Stopand
inspectthetiresfordamage.Ifatireisunder-inflatedordamaged,
deflateit,removewheelandreplaceitwithyoursparetireandwheel.If
youcannotdetectacause,havethevehicletowedtothenearestrepair
facilityortiredealertohavethevehicleinspected.
Tire and wheel alignment
Abadjoltfromhittingacurborpotholecancausethefrontendofyour
vehicletobecomemisalignedorcausedamagetoyourtires.Ifyour
vehicleseemstopulltoonesidewhenyou’redriving,thewheelsmaybe
outofalignment.Haveanauthorizeddealercheckthewheelalignment
periodically.
Wheelmisalignmentinthefrontortherearcancauseunevenandrapid
treadwearofyourtiresandshouldbecorrectedbyanauthorizeddealer.
Frontwheeldrive(FWD)vehiclesandthosewithanindependentrear
suspension(ifequipped)mayrequirealignmentofallfourwheels.
Thetiresshouldalsobebalancedperiodically.Anunbalancedtireand
wheelassemblymayresultinirregulartirewear.
Tire rotation
Rotatingyourtiresattherecommendedinterval(asindicatedinthe
scheduledmaintenanceinformationthatcomeswithyourvehicle)will
helpyourtireswearmoreevenly,providingbettertireperformanceand
longertirelife.Unlessotherwisespecified,rotatethetiresapproximately
every5,000miles(8,000km).
