Forsideairbagequippedvehicles,thefrontpassengersensingsystem
willturnoffthepassengerseatsideairbagif:
•
theseatisemptyandsafetybeltisunbuckled.
Thefrontpassengersensingsystem
usesaЉpassengerairbagoffЉor
ЉpassairbagoffЉindicatorwhichwill
illuminateandstaylittoremindyou
thatthefrontpassengerfrontal
airbagisdisabled.Theindicator
lampislocatedatthetopofthe
instrumentpanelcenterstackarea
belowtheHazardwarningindicator
andabovetheradio.
Note:Theindicatorlampwillilluminateforashortperiodoftimewhen
theignitionisturnedtotheONpositiontoconfirmitisfunctional.
Whenthefrontpassengerseatisnotoccupied(emptyseat)orinthe
eventthatthefrontpassengerfrontalairbagisenabled(mayinflate),the
indicatorlampwillbeunlit.
Thefrontpassengersensingsystemisdesignedtodisable(willnot
inflate)thefrontpassenger’sfrontalairbagwhenarearfacinginfant
seat,aforward-facingchildrestraint,oraboosterseatisdetected.

Whenthefrontpassengersensingsystemdisables(willnotinflate)
thefrontpassengerfrontalairbag,theindicatorlampwillilluminate
andstaylittoremindyouthatthefrontpassengerfrontalairbagis
disabled.
•
Ifthechildrestrainthasbeeninstalledandtheindicatorlampisnot
lit,thenturnthevehicleoff,removethechildrestraintfromthe
vehicleandreinstalltherestraintfollowingthechildrestraint
manufacturer’sinstructions.
Thefrontpassengersensingsystemisdesignedtoenable(mayinflate)
thefrontpassenger’sfrontalairbaganytimethesystemsensesthata
personofadultsizeissittingproperlyinthefrontpassengerseat.
•
Whenthefrontpassengersensingsystemenablesthefrontpassenger
frontalairbag(mayinflate),theindicatorwillbeunlitandstayunlit.
