Firstdetermineyouhavetheoptionalsideairbags-locatethe“AIRBAGЉ
labelsontheoutboardsidesofthefrontseats.
TheSRSusesareadinesslightintheinstrumentclusteroratoneto
indicatetheconditionofthesystem.RefertotheAirbagreadiness
sectionintheInstrumentclusterchapter.Routinemaintenanceofthe
sideairbagisnotrequired.
Adifficultywiththesystemisindicatedbyoneormoreofthefollowing:

Thereadinesslight(samelightasforfrontairbagsystem)willeither
flashorstaylit.
Thereadinesslightwillnotilluminateimmediatelyafterignitionis
turnedon.
Aseriesoffivebeepswillbeheard.Thetonepatternwillrepeat
periodicallyuntiltheproblemand/orlightarerepaired.
Ifanyofthesethingshappen,evenintermittently,havetheSRSserviced
atanauthorizeddealerimmediately.Unlessserviced,thesystemmaynot
functionproperlyintheeventofacollision.
Side-curtainairbagsystem(ifequipped)
Youcaneasilyconfirmifyourvehiclehasside-curtainairbagsbylooking
insidethevehicleupattheupperЉBЉpillarwhereyouwillseean
embossedЉAIRBAGЉlabel.

siderailthatmaycomeinto
contactwithadeploying
side-curtainairbags(if
equipped).Failuretofollow
