WARNING: Toreducetheriskofpersonalinjury,makesurethe
engineiscoolbeforeunscrewingthecoolantpressurerelief
cap.Thecoolingsystemisunderpressure;steamandhotliquid
cancomeoutforcefullywhenthecapisloosenedslightly.

Beforeyoubegin,turntheengineoffandletitcool.
Whentheengineiscool,wrapathickclotharoundthecoolant
pressurereliefcaponthecoolantreservoir(anopaqueplastic
bottle).Slowlyturncapcounterclockwise(left)untilpressurebegins
torelease.

Stepbackwhilethepressurereleases.
Whenyouaresurethatallthepressurehasbeenreleased,usethe
clothtoturnitcounterclockwiseandremovethecap.

Forthe2.3LengineONLY,openthecoolantbleedvalveontheback
oftheenginewateroutlet.

Fillthecoolantreservoirslowlywiththepropercoolantmixture
(seeabove),towithinthe“COLDFILLRANGE”orthe“FULL
COLD”levelonthereservoir.

Forthe2.3LengineONLY,closethebleedvalve.
Reinstallthecaponthecoolantreservoir.Turnthecapuntilitis
tightlyinstalledtopreventcoolantloss.
Afteranycoolanthasbeenadded,checkthecoolantconcentration.
RefertotheCheckingenginecoolantsection.Iftheconcentrationis
not50/50(protectionto–34°F[–36°C]),drainsomecoolantandadjust
theconcentration.Itmaytakeseveraldrainsandadditionstoobtaina
50/50
coolantconcentration.
Whenevercoolanthasbeenadded,thecoolantlevelinthecoolant
reservoirshouldbecheckedthenextfewtimesyoudrivethevehicle.
