Warninglightsandgaugescanalertyoutoavehicleconditionthatmay

becomeseriousenoughtocauseextensiverepairs.Awarninglightmay

illuminatewhenaproblemexistswithoneofyourvehicle’sfunctions.

Manylightswillilluminatewhenyoustartyourvehicletomakesurethe

bulbswork.Ifanylightremainsonafterstartingthevehicle,refertothe

respectivesystemwarninglightforadditionalinformation.

Checkengine:TheCheckEngine

indicatorlightilluminateswhenthe

ignitionisfirstturnedtotheRUN

positiontocheckthebulbandto

indicatewhetherthevehicleisreadyforInspection/Maintenance(I/M)

testing.Normally,theЉCheckEngineЉlightwillstayonuntiltheengineis

cranked,thenturnitselfoffifnomalfunctionsarepresent.However,if

after15secondstheЉCheckEngineЉlightblinkseighttimes,itmeans

thatthevehicleisnotreadyforI/Mtesting.SeetheReadinessfor

Inspection/Maintenance(I/M)testingintheMaintenanceand

Specificationschapter.

SolidilluminationaftertheengineisstartedindicatestheOnBoard

DiagnosticsSystem(OBD-II)hasdetectedamalfunction.RefertoOn

boarddiagnostics(OBD-II)intheMaintenanceandSpecifications

chapter.Ifthelightisblinking,enginemisfireisoccurringwhichcould

damageyourcatalyticconverter.Driveinamoderatefashion(avoid

heavyaccelerationanddeceleration)andhaveyourvehicleserviced

immediatelybyyourauthorizeddealer.

Ifthe

lightremainson,haveyourvehicleservicedatthefirst

availableopportunity.
