TractionControlhelpsyourvehiclemaintaintraction,whendrivingon
slipperyand/orhillyroadsurfaces,bydetectingandcontrollingwheel
spin.Excessivewheelspiniscontrolledbymomentarilyreducingengine
powerand/orapplyingtheanti-lockbrakes.TractionControlisadriver
aidthathelpsyourvehicle.
Ifyourvehicleshouldbecomestuckindeepsnowormud,tryswitching
theESCsystemoffbypressingtheESCbuttonmomentarily.Thiswill
allowyourtiresto“dig”fortraction.
IftheESCsystemisactivatedexcessivelyinashortperiodoftime,the
brakeportionofthesystemwilldisabletoallowthebrakestocooldown.
Inthissituation,TractionControlwilluseonlyenginepowerreductionto
helpcontrolthewheelsfromover-spinning.Whenthebrakeshavecooled
down,thesystemwillagainfunctionnormally.Anti-lockbraking,RSC
andDSCarenotaffectedbythisconditionandwillfunctionnormally
duringthecool-downperiod.
Ifthevehicleisstuckinsnowormudorwhendrivingindeepsand,
switchingofftheESCsystemmaybebeneficialsothewheelsare
allowedtospin.Ifyourvehicleseemstoloseenginepowerwhiledriving
indeepsandorverydeepsnow,switchingofftheESCstability
enhancementfeaturewillrestorefullenginepowerandwillenhance
momentumthroughtheobstacle.
DuringTractionControleventsthe“slidingcar”iconintheinstrument
clusterwillflashmomentarily.
DynamicStabilityControl(DSC)
TheDynamicStabilityControl(DSC)systemmayenhanceyourvehicle’s
stabilityduringadversemaneuvers.
TheESCsystemhelpsthedrivermaintainsteeringcontrol.ESCwill
attempttocorrectthevehiclemotionbyapplyingbrakeforceat
individualtiresand,ifnecessary,byreducingenginepower.
DuringDynamicStabilityControleventsthe“slidingcar”iconinthe
instrumentclusterwillflashmomentarily.
