ThePersonalSafetySystemusesawarninglightintheinstrument
clusteroraback-uptonetoindicatetheconditionofthesystem.Refer
totheWarninglightsectionintheInstrumentClusterchapter.
RoutinemaintenanceofthePersonalSafetySystemisnotrequired.
TheRestraintscontrolmodule(RCM)monitorsitsowninternalcircuits
andthecircuitsfortheairbagsupplementalrestraints,crashsensor(s),
safetybeltpretensioners,frontsafetybeltbucklesensors,driverseat
positionsensor,andfrontpassengersensingsystem.Inaddition,the
RCMalsomonitorstherestraintswarninglightintheinstrumentcluster.
Adifficultywiththesystemisindicatedbyoneormoreofthefollowing.

Thewarninglightwilleitherflashorstaylit.
Thewarninglightwillnotilluminateimmediatelyafterignitionis
turnedon.

Aseriesoffivebeepswillbeheard.Thetonepatternwillrepeat
periodicallyuntiltheproblemandwarninglightarerepaired.
Ifanyofthesethingshappen,evenintermittently,havethePersonal
SafetySystemservicedatanauthorizeddealerimmediately.Unless
serviced,thesystemmaynotfunctionproperlyintheeventofa
collision.

andthelapbeltsnugandlowacrossthehips.
WARNING:Toreducetheriskofinjury,makesurechildrensit
wheretheycanbeproperlyrestrained.
WARNING:Neverletapassengerholdachildonhisorherlap
whilethevehicleismoving.Thepassengercannotprotectthe
childfrominjuryinacollision.
WARNING:Alloccupantsofthevehicle,includingthedriver,
shouldalwaysproperlyweartheirsafetybelts,evenwhenan
airbagsupplementalrestraintsystem(SRS)isprovided.
