BATTERY
Yourvehicleisequippedwitha
Motorcraftmaintenance-freebattery
whichnormallydoesnotrequire
additionalwaterduringitslifeof
service.
Ifyourbatteryhasacover/shield,makesureitisreinstalled
afterthebatteryhasbeencleanedorreplaced.
Forlonger,trouble-freeoperation,keepthetopofthebatterycleanand
dry.Also,makecertainthebatterycablesarealwaystightlyfastenedto
thebatteryterminals.
Ifyouseeanycorrosiononthebatteryorterminals,removethecables
fromtheterminalsandcleanwithawirebrush.Youcanneutralizethe
acidwithasolutionofbakingsodaandwater.
Itisrecommendedthatthenegativebatterycableterminalbe
disconnectedfromthebatteryifyouplantostoreyourvehicleforan
extendedperiodoftime.Thiswillminimizethedischargeofyourbattery
duringstorage.
Note:Electricalorelectronicaccessoriesorcomponentsaddedto
thevehiclebythedealerortheownermayadverselyaffect
batteryperformanceanddurability.
WARNING:Batteriesnormallyproduceexplosivegaseswhich
cancausepersonalinjury.Therefore,donotallowflames,sparks
orlightedsubstancestocomenearthebattery.Whenworkingnearthe
battery,alwaysshieldyourfaceandprotectyoureyes.Alwaysprovide
properventilation.
WARNING:Whenliftingaplastic-casedbattery,excessive
pressureontheendwallscouldcauseacidtoflowthroughthe
ventcaps,resultinginpersonalinjuryand/ordamagetothevehicleor
battery.Liftthebatterywithabatterycarrierorwithyourhandson
oppositecorners.
