The“slidingcar”
indicatorlightwillflash.
Avibrationinthepedalwhenyourfootisonthebrakepedal
Ifthedrivingconditionissevereandyourfootisnotonthebrake,the
brakepedalmaymoveasthesystemsapplieshigherbrakeforces.You
mayalsohearawhooshofairfromundertheinstrumentpanelduring
thisseverecondition.

Thebrakepedalmayfeelstifferthanusual.
TractionControl(TCS)
TractionControlisadriveraidfeaturethathelpsyourvehiclemaintain
tractionofthewheels,typicallywhendrivingonslipperyand/orhilly
roadsurfaces,bydetectingandcontrollingwheelspin.
Excessivewheelspiniscontrolledintwoways,whichmaywork
separatelyorintandem:EngineTractionControlandBrakeTraction
Control.EngineTractionControlworkstolimitdrive-wheelspinby
momentarilyreducingenginepower.BrakeTractionControlworksto
limitwheelspinbymomentarilyapplyingthebrakestothewheelthatis
slipping.TractionControlismostactiveatlowspeeds.
DuringTractionControleventsthe“slidingcar”icon
instrumentclusterwillflash.
inthe
IftheTractionControlsystemisactivatedexcessivelyinashortperiod
oftime,thebrakingportionofthesystemmaybecometemporarily
disabledtoallowthebrakestocooldown.Inthissituation,Traction
Controlwilluseonlyenginepowerreductionortransfertohelpcontrol
thewheelsfromover-spinning.Whenthebrakeshavecooleddown,the
systemwillregainallfeatures.Anti-lockbraking,RSC,andESCarenot
affectedbythisconditionandwillcontinuetofunctionduringthe
cool-downperiod.
TheEngineTractionControlandBrakeTractionControlsystemmaybe
deactivatedincertainsituations.SeetheSwitchingofftractioncontrol
sectionbelow.
