Attaching child safety seats with tether straps
Manyforward-facingchildsafetyseatsincludeatetherstrapwhich
extendsfromthebackofthechildsafetyseatandhookstoananchoring
pointcalledthetoptetheranchor.Tetherstrapsareavailableasan
accessoryformanyoldersafetyseats.Contactthemanufacturerofyour
childseatforinformationaboutorderingatetherstrap,ortoobtaina
longertetherstrapifthetetherstraponyoursafetyseatdoesnotreach
theappropriatetoptetheranchorinthevehicle.
Therearseatingpositionsofyourvehicleareequippedwithbuilt-in
tetherstrapanchorslocatedbehindtheseatsontheroofpanelinthe
cargoarea.
Thetetherstrapanchorsinyour
vehicleareinthefollowingpositions
(shownfromtopview):
Attachthetetherstraponlytotheappropriatetetheranchorasshown.
Thetetherstrapmaynotworkproperlyifattachedsomewhereother
thanthecorrecttetheranchor.
Oncethechildsafetyseathasbeeninstalled,usingeitherthesafetybelt
ortheloweranchorsoftheLATCHsystem,youcanattachthetoptether
strap.
Performthefollowingstepstoinstallachildsafetyseatwithtether
anchors:

Routethechildsafetyseattetherstrapoverthebackoftheseat.
Forvehicleswithadjustableheadrestraints,removetheheadrestraint
first,placeunderthefrontseatforstorage,andthenroutethetether
strapoverthetopoftheseatback.
