TheMazdaRX-8requiresregularcheckingof
theengineoillevel.Thecompact,high
performanceRENESISrotaryengineinyour
vehicleconsumesasmallamountofengineoil
duetoitsstructuraldesign.Anoilpump
optimizestheamountofoilinjectedto
lubricatetherotorsealsinthecombustion
cycle.Althoughyourvehicleisequippedwith
anengineoillevelwarninglight,itisbestto
keeptheengineoillevelintherangebetween
fullandlowbycheckingtheoildipstick
regularly.Mazdarecommendscheckingtheoil
levelateverysecondfuelfilling.Theoil
consumptionoftheenginedependsonengine
speedandengineload.Underextremedriving
conditions,oilconsumptioncanbehigher.
Ifthelightflashesandthenilluminates

Drivetothesideoftheroadandpark
offtheright-of-way.
2.
Turnofftheengineandinspectthe
engineoillevel(page8-13).Ifit'slow,
addoil.
3.
Checkthelight.
Iftheengineoillevelwarninglightis
illuminatedandyouareunableto
Ifthelightflashescontinuously
Ifthewarninglightcontinuestoflash,do
notdriveathighspeeds,drivethevehicle
atlowenginerpm,andhavean
AuthorizedMazdaDealerinspectthe
system.
immediatelyaddengineoil,donotdrive
athighspeed,keeptheenginespeedlow
andgettoalocationwhereoilcanbe
addedassoonaspossible.Werecommend
anAuthorizedMazdaDealer.

Ifthelightremainsilluminatedevenafter
youaddoil,haveyourvehiclecheckedat
anAuthorizedMazdaDealer.
Iftheengineisturnedoffwhiletheoillevel
indicatorisflashingduetoasystem
malfunction,itmaytakeafewminutesuntilthe
indicatorstartsflashingagainaftertheengine
isstarted.
CAUTION
Don'truntheengineiftheoillevelis
low.Itcouldresultinextensive
enginedamage.
