THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
STEERING WHEEL LOCK — IF EQUIPPED
CAUTION!
Your vehicle may be equipped with a passive steering
wheellock.Thislockpreventssteeringthevehiclewith-
out the ignition key. If the steering wheel is moved
approximatelyahalfturnineitherdirectionandthekey
isnotintheignitionswitch,thesteeringwheelwilllock.
An unlocked vehicle is an invitation to thieves.
Alwaysremovethekeyfromtheignitionandlockall
doorswhenleavingthevehicleunattended.
Locking Doors with a Key
To Manually Lock the Steering Wheel
Withtheenginerunning,turnthesteeringwheelupside
down,turnofftheengineandremovethekey.Turnthe
steering wheel slightly in either direction until the lock
engages.
You can insert the key with either side up. To lock the
door,turnthekeyrearward.Tounlockthedoor,turnthe
keyforward.Fordoorlocklubrication,referto“Mainte-
nanceProcedures”in“MaintainingYourVehicle”.
Key-In-Ignition Reminder
Openingthedriver’sdoorwhenthekeyisintheignition,
soundsasignaltoremindyoutoremovethekey.
To Release the Steering Wheel Lock
Insertthekeyintheignitionswitchandstarttheengine.
Ifthekeyisdifficulttoturn,movethewheelslightlyto
NOTE: Withthedriver’sdooropen,andthekeyinthe therightorlefttodisengagethelock.
ignition,boththepowerdoorlocksandRemoteKeyless
Entry(RKE)willnotfunction.
NOTE: If you turned the wheel to the right to engage
thelock,youmustturnthewheelslightlytotherightto
