Key Ignition Park Interlock
CAUTION!
ThisvehicleisequippedwithaKeyIgnitionParkInter-
lockwhichrequirestheshiftlevertobeplacedinPARK
priortorotatingthekeytotheLOCKposition.Thekey
canonlyberemovedfromtheignitionwhentheignition
isintheLOCKpositionandonceremovedtheshiftlever
islockedinPARK.
Damagetothetransmissionmayoccurifthefollow-
ingprecautionsarenotobserved:

ShiftintoPARKonlyafterthevehiclehascometo
acompletestop.
•
Shift into or out of REVERSE only after the
vehiclehascometoacompletestopandtheengine
isatidlespeed.
Brake/Transmission Interlock System
Thissystempreventsyoufrommovingtheshiftleverout
of PARK and into any gear unless the brake pedal is
pressed. This system is active only while the ignition
switchisintheONorACCposition.Alwayssteponthe
brake pedal and press the shift lever knob button
beforeshiftingoutofPARK.

DonotshiftfromREVERSE,PARK,orNEUTRAL
into any forward gear when the engine is above
idlespeed.
Beforeshiftingintoanygear,makesureyourfoot
isfirmlyonthebrakepedal.
NOTE: Youmuststeponthebrakepedalandpressthe
shiftleverknobbuttonbeforeyouwillbeabletomove
theshiftleveroutofPARK.
