4L(Four-wheeldrivelowrange)
In the event that additional traction is required, the
transfercase4Hand4Lpositionscanbeusedtolockthe
frontandreardriveshaftstogether,forcingthefrontand
rear wheels to rotate at the same speed. This is accom-
plishedbysimplymovingtheshiftlevertooneofthese
positions.The4Hand4Lpositionsareintendedforloose,
slipperyroadsurfacesonlyandnotintendedfornormal
driving. Driving in the 4H and 4L positions on hard-
surfacedroadswillcauseincreasedtirewearanddamage
tothedrivelinecomponents.
The “4WD Indicator Light” (located in the instrument
cluster)alertsthedriverthatthevehicleisinfour-wheel
drive, and the front and rear driveshafts are locked
together.Thelightwillilluminatewhenthetransfercase
isshiftedintothe4Hposition.

The transfer case is intended to be driven in the 2H
positionfornormalstreetandhighwayconditionssuch
ashard-surfacedroads.
