Checkthefluidlevelbyremovingthefillplug.Thefluid
levelshouldbebetweenthebottomofthefillholeanda
pointnotmorethan3/16in(4.76mm)belowthebottom
ofthehole.
Addfluid,ifnecessary,tomaintaintheproperlevel.
FrequencyofFluidChange
Undernormaloperatingconditions,thefluidinstalledat
thefactorywillgivesatisfactorylubricationforthelifeof
the vehicle. Fluid changes are not necessary unless the
lubricant has become contaminated with water. If con-
taminated with water, the fluid should be changed AddingFluid

immediately.
Fluid should be added only at filler hole until fluid
beginstorunoutofthehole.
Transfer Case – If Equipped
Drain
FluidLevelCheck
Firstremovethefillplug(B),thenthedrainplug(C).The
recommended tightening torque for the drain and fill
plugsis15to25ftlbs(20to34N·m).
The fluid level should be to the bottom edge of the fill
hole(A)whenthevehicleisinalevelposition.
