Damage to the fuel system or emission control
system could result from using an improper fuel
cap(gascap).Apoorlyfittingcapcouldletimpu-
rities into the fuel system. Also, a poorly fitting
aftermarketcapcancausethe“MalfunctionIndi-
catorLight(MIL)”toilluminate,duetofuelvapors
escapingfromthesystem.

Toavoidfuelspillageandoverfilling,donot“top
off”thefueltankafterfilling.

When the fuel nozzle “clicks” or shuts off, the fuel
tankisfull.
WARNING!

Tightenthegascapabout1/4turnuntilyouhearone
click. This is an indication that the cap is properly
tightened.
Never have any smoking materials lit in or near
the vehicle when the gas cap is removed or the
tankisbeingfilled.

If the gas cap is not tightened properly, the MILwill
comeon.Besurethegascapistightenedeverytime
thevehicleisrefueled.
