Inthemaingate,theselectorleverhas
positions,  and is  equipped  with a
button to avoid inadvertent wrong se-
lection.

o P (Park):

With the  selector in  this position, no
drive is  transmitted  from the  engine
and the transaxle output and therefore
the front  wheels locked.  The engine
may be started with the selector in this
position.
NOTE:
Depress  the brake  pedal  and
push the button when shifting.

CAUTION:
The first few shifts on a new vehicle, or
if the battery has been disconnected,
may be  somewhat  abrupt. This  is a
normal condition, and the shifting se-
quencewilladjustaftershiftsarecycled
a few times  by the T.C.M (Transaxle
Control Module).

TheselectormustNEVERbeshifted
to  the "P"  position whilst  the  ve-
hicle is  in motion,  otherwise seri-
ous transaxle damage will result.
CAUTION:
Never shift into "R" or "P" position
whilst the vehicle is  moving.
The indicator lights  in the instrument
clusterindicatetheselectorleverposi-
tionwhentheignitionisswitched"ON".
During"D"rangeoperation,greenlights
indicate the gear currently in use.
