Isnearertotheuppermarkornotchthan
thelower,addnooil.
Isnearertothelowermarkornotchthan
theupper,add0.5litres(1pint)ofoil.
Isbelowthelowermarkornotch,add1
litre(2pints)ofoilandre-checkthelevel
afterafurther5minutes.
Theoilconsumptionofanengineisinfluenced
bymanyfactors.Underhighloads,anengine
willconsumemoreoilthanusual.Diesel
enginesconsumeslightlymoreoilthanpetrol
engines.
TOPPINGUPTHEOIL
Thevehicle'swarrantymaybe
invalidatedifdamageiscausedby
usingoilthatdoesnotmeetthe
requiredspecification.
Failuretouseanoilthatmeetsthe
requiredspecificationcouldcause
excessiveenginewear,abuildupof
sludgeanddeposits,andincrease
pollution.Itcouldalsoleadtoengine
failure.
Overfillingwithoilcouldresultinsevere
enginedamage.Oilshouldbeaddedin
smallquantitiesandthelevel
re-checkedtomakesuretheengineis
notoverfilled.

Theengineoiliscold.
Note:Ifitisnecessarytochecktheoillevel
whentheengineishot,switchoffthe
engineandletthevehiclestandfor5
minutestoallowtheoiltodrainbackinto
thesump.Donotstarttheengine.

Removetheoilfillercap.
2. Addoiltomaintainthelevelbetweenthe
MINandMAXmarksornotchesonthe
dipstick.Cleanupanyoilspilledduring
toppingup.
Theoillevelcanbecheckedasfollows:
1.
Withdrawthedipstickandwipetheblade
cleanwithalint-freecloth.
3.
Checktheoillevelagainafter5minutes.
2.
Fullyre-insertthedipstickandwithdraw
againtochecktheoillevel.Neverallowthe
oilleveltofallbelowthelowermarkor
notchonthedipstick.
Note:Theapproximatequantityofoilrequired
toraisethelevelfromMINtoMAXonthe
dipstickis1.2litres(2.11pints)-petrolmodels
or1.5litres(2.64pints)-dieselmodels.
