battery.AGMbatteriesaresealedforlifeand
requirenomaintenance.
Suitableeyeprotectionmustbeworn
whenworkingintheareaofthe
battery.
Donotattempttostartthedisabled
vehicleifitsuspectedthatthe
electrolyteinthebatteryisfrozen.
Donoattempttoopenorremovethe
topfromanAGMbattery.
Inhotclimates,morefrequentchecksofthe
lowmaintenancebatteryelectrolyteleveland
conditionarerequired.Ifnecessary,thebattery
cellscanbetoppedupusingdistilledwater.
Duringnormaluse,batteriesemit
explosivegassufficienttocause
severeexplosionsandcapableof
causingseriousinjury-keepsparks
andnakedlightsawayfromtheengine
compartment.
Tochecktheelectrolytelevel,firstremovethe
batterycover.See149,UNDERBONNET
COVERS-REMOVAL.
Makesurethereisnophysicalcontact
betweenthedonoranddisabled
vehicles,otherthantheboostercables.

Unscrewthe6batterycellplugsandstore
carefully.
Makesurethattheslavebatteryor
startingaidisa12voltdevice.
2.
Checkthesurfaceoftheliquid(electrolyte)
islevelwiththeplasticlevelindicator.If
necessary,topupwithdistilledwater.
Disconnectthebatterycablespriorto
operatinganyelectricalequipment.
Donotoverfillthebattery.
Note:Beforeconnectingjumpleads,make
surethebatteryconnectionsonthedisabled
vehiclearecorrect,andthatallelectrical
equipmenthasbeenswitchedoff.

Beforeattemptingtostartthedisabled
vehicle,makesurethattheparking
brakeisapplied,orsuitablychockthe
wheels.MakesurethatPark(P)is
selected,orthemanualgearboxisin
neutral.
