Onlyfitabatteryofthecorrecttype
andrating.Fittinganincorrectbattery
mayresultinafire,ordamagetothe
electricalsystem.Ifyouareinany
doubtwhenfittingabattery,seek
qualifiedassistance.
Makesurethecorrecttypeandrating
ofchargerisused.Usingan
unsuitablechargermaydamagethe
battery,andcouldcausethebatteryto
explode.
Usecautionwhenliftingthebattery
outof,orinto,thevehicle.Itisheavy,
andmaycauseinjurywhenlifting,or
ifdropped.
Alwayschargethebatteryinawell
ventilatedarea,awayfromanynaked
flames,sparksorotherignition
sources.Duringcharging,thebattery
canproduceahighlyexplosiveand
flammablegas.
Donottipthebatterywhenliftingor
moving,astiltingthebatterymore
than45degreesmaydamagethe
battery,andmaycausetheelectrolyte
toleakout.Batteryelectrolyteis
highlycorrosiveandtoxic.
Thebatterymustbedisconnectedand
removedfromthevehiclebefore
charging.Failuretodosocouldresultin
damagetothevehicle'selectrical
system.
Whenrefittingthebattery,makesure
nometalobjects,orvehicle
components,comeintocontactwith
thebatteryterminals.Metalobjects
cancauseasparkorshortcircuit,both
ofwhichmayresultinanexplosion.
Alwaysfollowtheinstructionssupplied
withthebatterycharger.Failuretodo
somayresultindamagetothebattery.

Disconnectthebatteryandremoveitfrom
thevehicle.
Makesurewhenfittingabatterytothe
vehicle,theterminalsandbattery
clampsarecleanandlightlycoatedwith
petroleumjelly.Thiswillmakesurethat
goodelectricalconnectionsaremade
andhelptopreventcorrosion.
Connectthebatterychargerinaccordance
withthechargermanufacturer's
instructions.

Oncethechargeiscomplete,switchoffthe
powertothecharger.
Disconnectthechargercablesfromthe
battery.
Alwaysfollowthebattery
manufacturer'sinstructions.Failureto
dosomayresultindamagetothe
vehicleand/ortheelectricalsystem.
Allowthebatterytostandforanhour
beforeconnectingtothevehicle.Thiswill
allowanyexplosivegasestodissipateand
reducetheriskofexplosion.
Donotrestthebatteryonanypartof
thevehicle,asitmaycausedamagedue
toitsweight.
REPLACINGTHEVEHICLEBATTERY
Donotruntheenginewiththebattery
disconnected.Doingsomaydamage
thechargingsystem.
Switchtheignitionoffbefore
disconnectingbatteryterminals.
Alwaysdisconnectthenegative
terminalfirstandreconnectlast.
1. Makesureallelectricalcircuitsare
switchedoff,allofthewindowsareclosed,
andthealarmisdisarmed.
