Whenparking,donotusethegearshiftinplaceoftheparking
brake.Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmakesurethatthe
gearshiftissecurelylatchedinPark(P).Turnofftheignition
wheneveryouleaveyourvehicle.Neverleaveyourvehicleunattended
whileitisrunning.Ifyoudonottaketheseprecautions,yourvehicle
maymoveunexpectedlyandinjuresomeone.
VEHICLE LOADING
Beforeloadingavehicle,familiarizeyourselfwiththefollowingterms:

BaseCurbWeight:Weightofthevehicleincludinganystandard
equipment,fluids,lubricants,etc.Itdoesnotincludepassengersor
aftermarketequipment.

Payload:Combinedmaximumallowableweightofcargo,passengers
andoptionalequipment.Thepayloadequalsthegrossvehicleweight
ratingminusbasecurbweight.

GVW(GrossVehicleWeight):Basecurbweightpluspayload
weight.TheGVWisnotalimitoraspecification.
GVWR(GrossVehicleWeightRating):Maximumtotalweightof
thebasevehicle,passengers,optionalequipmentandcargo.The
GVWRisspecifictoeachvehicleandislistedontheSafety
CertificationLabelonthedriver’sdoorpillar.

GAWR(GrossAxleWeightRating):Carryingcapacityforeachaxle
system.TheGAWRisspecifictoeachvehicleandislistedonthe
SafetyCertificationLabelonthedriver’sdoorpillar.

GCW(GrossCombinedWeight):Thecombinedweightofthe
towingvehicle(includingpassengersandcargo)andthetrailer.
GCWR(GrossCombinedWeightRating):Maximumcombined
weightoftowingvehicle(includingpassengersandcargo)andthe
trailer.TheGCWRindicatesthemaximumloadedweightthatthe
vehicleisdesignedtotow.

MaximumTrailerWeightRating:Maximumweightofatrailerthe
vehicleispermittedtotow.Themaximumtrailerweightratingis
determinedbysubtractingthevehiclecurbweightforeach
engine/transmissioncombination,anyrequiredoptionweightfortrailer
towingandtheweightofthedriverfromtheGCWRforthetowing
vehicle.
