commonabbreviationE85ortheappropriatepercentageforthat
region.UseofotherfuelssuchasFuelMethanolmaycause
powertraindamage,alossofvehicleperformance,andyour
warrantymaybeinvalidated.
Fuel quality
Manyoftheworld’sautomakersissuedtheWorld-wideFuelCharterthat
recommendsgasolinespecificationstoprovideimprovedperformance
andemissioncontrolsystemprotectionforyourvehicle.Gasolinesthat
meettheWorld-wideFuelChartershouldbeusedwhenavailable.Ask
yourfuelsupplieraboutgasolinesthatmeettheWorld-wideFuel
Charter.
Itshouldnotbenecessarytoaddanyaftermarketproductstoyourfuel
tankifyoucontinuetousehighqualityfueloftherecommendedoctane
rating.Aftermarketproductscouldcausedamagetothefuelsystem.
Repairstocorrecttheeffectsofusinganaftermarketproductinyour
fuelmaynotbecoveredbyyourwarranty.
UnleadedGasolineengines
Ifyouareexperiencingstarting,roughidleorhesitationdriveability
problemsduringacoldstart,tryadifferentbrandof“Regular”unleaded
gasoline.“Premium”unleadedgasolineisnotrecommended(particularly
intheUnitedStates)becauseitmaycausetheseproblemstobecome
morepronounced.Iftheproblemspersist,seeyourdealeroraqualified
servicetechnician.

onlythehighestqualityfuelethanolwillprovidethesamelevelof
protectionandperformance.
StandardsforfuelethanolhavebeendevelopedtoprovideFFVsthebest
possibleperformance,safetyanddurability.Toassistalcoholfuel
providersinmeetingthesestandards,guidelineshavealsobeen
developedwhichprescribe“EthanolFuelCompatible”dispensingstation
equipment.ThesestandardsandguidelinescanbeobtainedfromFord
