Safety belts for rear-facing occupants (wagon only)

Neverusechildsafetyseatsinthethirdseatofawagon.

Yourvehicleisequippedwithsafetybeltscontaininganadjusttongueat

therear-facingseatingpositions.

Whentheadjusttongueofthelap/shouldercombinationseatbeltislatched

intothebuckle,thetonguewillallowthelapportiontobecomeshorter,

butlocksthewebbinginplacetorestrictitfrombecominglonger.

Beforeyoureachandlatchacombinationlapandshoulderbelthavingan

adjusttongueintothebuckle,youmayhavetolengthenthelapbelt

portionofit.Tolengthenthelapbelt,pullsomewebbingoutofthe

shoulderbeltretractor.Whileholdingthewebbingbelowthetongue,grasp

thetonguesothatitisparalleltothewebbingandslidethetongue

upward.Provideenoughlengthsothatthetonguecanreachthebuckle.

Tofastenthebelt,pullthecombinationlapandshoulderbeltfromthe

retractorsothattheshoulderbeltportionofthesafetybeltcrossesyour

shoulderandchest.Besurethebeltisnottwisted.Ifthebeltistwisted,

removethetwist.Insertthetongueintotheproperbuckleforyour

seatingpositionuntilyouhearasnapandfeelitlatch.Makesurethe

tongueissecurelyfastenedtothebucklebypullingonthetongue.

Thelapbeltsshouldfitsnuglyandaslowaspossiblearoundthe

hips,notaroundthewaist.

Frontandrearseatoccupants,includingpregnantwomen,

shouldwearsafetybeltsforoptimumprotectioninanaccident.

Eachseatingpositioninyourvehiclehasaspecificsafetybelt

assemblywhichismadeupofonebuckleandonetonguethat

aredesignedtobeusedasapair.1)Usetheshoulderbeltonthe

outsideshoulderonly.Neverweartheshoulderbeltunderthearm.

Neverswingthesafetybeltaroundyourneckovertheinside

shoulder.3)Neveruseasinglebeltformorethanoneperson.

Duetofoldingrearseats,sometimesthebucklesandtonguestowardthe

centerofthevehiclemaybehiddenbytherearedgeoftheseatcushion.

Pullthemoutsotheywillbeaccessible.
