The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is
designedtopreventwheellock-updur-
ing sudden braking or on hazardous
roadsurfaces.TheABScontrolmodule
monitorsthewheelspeedandcontrols
the pressure applied to each brake.
Thus, in emergency situations or on
slick roads, ABS will increase vehicle
controlduringbraking.
WARNING:
o Avoid high cornering speeds.
o Donotmakequicksteeringwheel
movements, such as sharp lane
charges or fast, sharp turns.
o The risk of rollover is greatly in-
creasedifyoulosecontrolofyour
vehicleatmotorwayspeeds.
o In a collision crash, an unbelted
personissignificantlymorelikely
to die than a person wearing a
seatbelt.
o Lossofcontroloftenoccursiftwo
or more wheels drop off the road-
way and the driver oversteers to
re-entertheroadway.
o In the event your vehicle leaves
theroadway,donotsteersharply.
Instead,slowdownbeforepulling
back into the travel lanes.

CAUTION:
o Whilstthefull-time4WDvehicleis
beingraisedonajack,neverstart
the engine or cause the tyres to
rotate.
There is the danger that rotating
tyres touching the ground could
cause the vehicle to move off the
jack and jump forward.
o If one of the front or rear wheels
beginstospininmud,snow,etc.,
the vehicle can sometimes be
driven out by depressing the ac-
celerator pedal further; however,
avoidrunningtheenginecontinu-
ously at high rpm because doing
socoulddamagethe4WDsystem.
NOTE:
During ABS operation, a slight pul-
sationmaybefeltinthebrakepedal
whenthebrakesareapplied.Also,a
noise may be heard in the engine
compartment while braking. These
conditions are normal and indicate
that the anti-lock brake system is
functioningproperly.
