TheSafetyCanopy௡System,incombinationwithsafetybelts,canhelp

reducetheriskofsevereinjuriesintheeventofasignificantsideimpact

collisionorrolloverevent.

Children12yearsoldandundershouldalwaysbeproperlyrestrainedin

thesecondorthirdrowseats(ifequipped).TheSafetyCanopy௡willnot

interferewithchildrenrestrainedusingaproperlyinstalledchildor

boosterseatbecauseitisdesignedtoinflatedownwardfromthe

headlinerabovethedoorsalongthesidewindowopenings.

TheSafetyCanopy௡Systemisdesignedtoactivatewhenthevehicle

sustainslateraldecelerationsufficienttocausethesidecrashsensorto

closeanelectricalcircuitthatinitiatesSafetyCanopy௡inflationorwhen

acertainlikelihoodofarollovereventisdetectedbytherolloversensor.

TheSafetyCanopy௡ismountedtotheroofside-railsheetmetal,behind

theheadliner,abovethefirstandsecondrowseats.Incertainlateral

collisionsorrolloverevents,theSafetyCanopy௡Systemwillbeactivated,

regardlessofwhichseatsareoccupied.TheSafetyCanopy௡isdesigned

toinflatebetweenthesidewindowareaandoccupantstofurther

enhanceprotectionprovidedinsideimpactcollisionsandrolloverevents.

ThefactthattheSafetyCanopy௡Systemdidnotactivateinacollision

doesnotmeanthatsomethingiswrongwiththesystem.Rather,it

meanstheforceswerenotofthetypesufficienttocauseactivation.The

SafetyCanopy௡isdesignedtoinflateincertainsideimpactcollisionsor

rolloverevents,notinrearimpact,frontalornear-frontalcollisions,

unlessthecollisioncausessufficientlateraldecelerationorrollover

likelihood.
