Thebrakepedalmayfeelstifferthanusual.
TractionControlSystem(TCS)
TheTCSisadriveraidfeaturethathelpsyourvehiclemaintaintraction
ofthewheels,typicallywhendrivingonslipperyand/orhillyroad
surfaces,bydetectingandcontrollingwheelspin.
Excessivewheelspiniscontrolledintwoways,whichmaywork
separatelyorintandem:enginetractioncontrolandbraketraction
control.Enginetractioncontrolworkstolimitdrive-wheelspinby
momentarilyreducingenginepower.Braketractioncontrolworkstolimit
wheelspinbymomentarilyapplyingthebrakestothewheelthatis
slipping.Tractioncontrolismostactiveatlowspeeds.
DuringTCSeventsthe“slidingcar”icon
willflash.
intheinstrumentcluster
IftheTCSisactivatedexcessivelyinashortperiodoftime,thebraking
portionofthesystemmaybecometemporarilydisabledtoallowthe
brakestocooldown.Inthissituation,TCSwilluseonlyenginepower
reductionortransfertohelpcontrolthewheelsfromover-spinning.
Whenthebrakeshavecooleddown,thesystemwillregainallfeatures.
Anti-lockbraking,RSC௡,andESCarenotaffectedbythisconditionand
willcontinuetofunctionduringthecool-downperiod.
Theenginetractioncontrolandbraketractioncontrolsystemsmaybe
deactivatedincertainsituations.SeetheSwitchingOffAdvanceTrac௡
withRSC௡sectionfollowing.
ElectronicStabilityControl(ESC)
Electronicstabilitycontrol(ESC)mayenhanceyourvehicle’sdirectional
stabilityduringadversemaneuvers,forexamplewhencorneringseverely
oravoidingobjectsintheroadway.TheESCoperatesbyapplyingbrakes
tooneormoreofthewheelsindividuallyand,ifnecessary,reducing
enginepowerifthesystemdetectsthatthevehicleisabouttoskidor
slidelaterally.
DuringESCeventsthe“slidingcar”icon
willflash.
