Alwayswearyourseatbeltandmakesurealloccupantsareproperlyrestrained:
Notwearingaseatbeltisextremelydangerous.Duringacollision,occupantsnot
wearingseatbeltscouldhitsomeoneorthingsinsidethevehicleorevenbethrown
outofthevehicle.Theycouldbeseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Inthesame
collision,occupantswearingseatbeltswouldbemuchsafer.
Donotweartwistedseatbelts:
Twistedseatbeltsaredangerous.Inacollision,thefullwidthofthebeltisnot
availabletoabsorbtheimpact.Thisputsmoreforceonthebonesbeneaththebelt,
whichcouldcauseseriousinjuryordeath.
Neveruseoneseatbeltonmorethanonepersonatatime:
Usingoneseatbeltformorethanonepersonatatimeisdangerous.Aseatbelt
usedinthiswaycannotspreadtheimpactforcesproperlyandthetwopassengers
couldbecrushedtogetherandseriouslyinjuredorevenkilled.Neveruseonebeltfor
morethanonepersonatatimeandalwaysoperatethevehiclewitheachoccupant
properlyrestrained.
Donotoperateavehiclewithadamagedseatbelt:
Usingadamagedseatbeltisdangerous.Anaccidentcoulddamagethebelt
webbingoftheseatbeltinuse.Adamagedseatbeltcannotprovideadequate
protectioninacollision.HaveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspectallseatbelt
systemsinuseduringanaccidentbeforetheyareusedagain.
Haveyourseatbeltschangedimmediatelyifthepretensionerorloadlimiterhas
beenexpended:
Oneorbothfrontairbagsmaydeploy,andthecorrespondingpretensioner(s)may
alsodeployatthesametime.Liketheairbags,thefrontseatbeltpretensionerswill
onlyfunctiononce.Whileitissafertouseapost-crash(aseatbeltthatwasusedin
anaccident)thannofrontseatbeltatall,usingafrontseatbeltwithanexpended
pretensionerorloadlimiterloadedreducesthesafetyavailabletoyou.Ifthefront
seatbeltpretensionersarenotreplaced,theriskofinjuryinacollisionwillincrease.
Expendedfrontseatbeltpretensionersandairbagsmustbereplacedafterany
collisionwhichcausedthemtodeploy.Additionally,theloadlimiterwillonlylimit
loadsonthechestonceinacollisionandthisisanotherreasontohavethefront
seatbeltsinspected.AlwayshaveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspectthefrontseat
beltpretensionersandairbagsafteranycollision.
Inarollovercrash,anunbeltedpersonissignificantlymorelikelytodiethana
personwearingaseatbelt.
