GCW(GrossCombinationWeight)istheweightoftheloadedvehicle(GVW)plusthe
weightofthefullyloadedtrailer.
GCWR(GrossCombinationWeightRating)isthemaximumallowableweightofthe
vehicleandtheloadedtrailer-includingallcargoandpassengers-thatthevehiclecan
handlewithoutriskingdamage.(Important:Thetowingvehicle'sbrakingsystemisrated
foroperationatGVWR,notatGCWR.Separatefunctionalbrakesshouldbeusedforsafe
controloftowedvehiclesandfortrailersweighingmorethan1,500lbs).TheGCWmust
neverexceedtheGCWR.
MaximumLoadedTrailerWeightisthehighestpossibleweightofafullyloadedtrailer
thevehiclecantow.Itassumesavehiclewithonlymandatoryoptions,nocargo(internalor

external),atongueloadof10   15%(conventionaltrailer)orkingpinweightof15    25%
(fifth-wheeltrailer),anddriveronly(150lbs).Consultyourdealership(ortheRVand

TongueLoadorFifth-WheelKingPinWeightreferstotheamountoftheweightthata
trailerpushesdownonatrailerhitch.
Examples:Fora5000lbconventionaltrailer,multiply5000by0.10and0.15toobtaina
propertongueloadrangeof500to750lbs.Foran11,500lbfifth-wheeltrailer,multiplyby
0.15
and0.25toobtainaproperkingpinloadrangeof1,725to2,875lbs.
