withsufficientforcetoholdthevehiclein
astationaryposition.
Thiswarninghasthefollowingfunctions:
Parkingbrakewarning
Thelightilluminateswhentheparking
brakeisappliedwiththeignitionswitch
intheSTARTorONposition.Itturnsoff
whentheparkingbrakeisfullyreleased.
Lowbrakefluidlevelwarning
Ifthelightstaysonaftertheparkingbrake
isfullyreleased,youmayhaveabrake
problem.
Releasingtheparkingbrake
Depressthebrakepedalandpullthe
parkingbrakeleverupwards,thenpress
thereleasebutton.Whileholdingthe
button,lowertheparkingbrakeleverall
thewaydowntothereleasedposition.
Drivetothesideoftheroadandparkoff
theright-of-way.
Youmaynoticethatthepedalisharderto
depressorthatitmaygoclosertothe
floor.Ineithercase,itwilltakelongerto
stopthevehicle.

Withtheenginestopped,openthe
hoodandcheckthebrakefluidlevel
immediately,andthenaddfluidif
required(page8-16).

Afteraddingfluid,checkthelight
again.
Ifthewarninglightremainson,orifthe
brakesdonotoperateproperly,donot
drivethevehicle.Haveittowedtoan
AuthorizedMazdaDealer.
Evenifthelightturnsoffhaveyourbrake
systeminspectedassoonaspossibleby
anAuthorizedMazdaDealer.
