Depressthebuttonontheseatbeltbuckle.
Ifthebeltdoesnotfullyretract,pullitout
andcheckforkinksortwists.Thenmake
sureitremainsuntwistedasitretracts.
Foroptimumprotection,thedriverand
frontpassengerseatbeltsareequipped
withpretensionerandloadlimiting
systems.Forboththesesystemstowork
properlyyoumustweartheseatbelt
properly.
Pretensioners:
Inmoderateorseverefrontalornear-
frontalaccidents,thefrontairbagand
pretensionersystemsdeploy
simultaneously.Thefrontseatbelt
retractorsremoveslackquicklyastheair
bagsareexpanding.
Button
Inaddition,thepretensionersystemfor
thefrontpassenger,likethefront
passengerairbag,isdesignedtoonly
deployinaccordancewiththetotalseated
weightonthefrontpassengerseat.Any
timetheairbagsandfrontseatbelt
pretensionershavefiredtheymustbe
replaced.Fordetails,refertothefront
passengerseatweightsensors(page2-44).
NOTE
Ifabeltdoesnotfullyretract,inspectitfor
kinksandtwists.Ifitisstillnotretracting
properly,haveitinspectedatanAuthorized
MazdaDealer.
Loadlimiter:
Theloadlimitingsystemreleasesbelt
webbinginacontrolledmannertoreduce
beltforceontheoccupant'schest.While
themostsevereloadonaseatbeltoccurs
infrontalcollisions,theloadlimiterhas
anautomaticmechanicalfunctionandcan
activateinanyaccidentmodewith
sufficientoccupantmovement.
Evenifthepretensionershavenotfired,
theloadlimitingfunctionmustbe
checkedbyanAuthorizedMazdaDealer
afteranycollision.
