gradually. The transaxle will automati-
cally shift to the second, third and
overdrivegears.

is in motion.

The highly efficient Hyundai automatic
transaxlehasfourforwardspeedsand
one reverse speed. It has a conven-
tional shift pattern as shown in the
illustration. At night, with the first posi-
tion of the multi-function switch, the
appropriatesymbolontheshiftpattern
indicator will be illuminated according
to the range selected.

With the selector in this position, no
driveistransmittedfromtheengineand
the transaxle output and therefore the
frontwheelslocked.Theenginemaybe
startedwiththeselectorinthisposition.
With the selector in this position, no
gear is selected and no drive is trans-
mittedfromtheengine.Theenginemay
be started with the selector in this
position.

Never shift into "R" or "P" position
whilst the vehicle is moving.

Do not coast with the selector at the
"N"position.
TheselectormustNEVERbeshifted
tothe"P"positionwhilstthevehicle
