Intheemergencylockingmode,thebeltremainscomfortableontheoccupantandthe

retractorwilllockinpositionduringacollision.Whentheseatbeltisretracted,itwill

alwaysbeintheemergencylockingmodeuntilitisswitchedtoautomaticlockingmodeby

pullingitallthewayouttoitsfulllength.Ifthebeltfeelstightandhinderscomfortable

movementwhilethevehicleisstoppedorinmotion,itmaybeintheautomaticlocking

modebecausethebelthasbeenpulledtoofarout.Toreturntothebeltmorecomfortable

emergencylockingmode,waituntilthevehiclehasstoppedinasafe,levelarea,retractthe

beltfullytoconvertitbacktoemergencylockingmodeandthenextenditaroundyou

again.

qAutomaticLockingMode

Toenableseatbeltautomaticlockingmode,pullitallthewayoutandconnectitas

instructedonthechild-restraintsystem.Itwillretractdowntothechild-restraintsystem

andstaylockedonit.IftheLATCHloweranchorsarenotusedaloneforLATCHstyle

boosterseatsandinfantcarrierswithouttethers,alwaysusetheautomaticlockingmodeto

keepthechild-restraintsystemfromshiftingtoanunsafepositionintheeventofan

accident.Seethesectiononchildrestraint(page2-15).
