IncreasingtheTotalSeatedWeightonthePassengerSeat:

Whenaninfantorsmallchildsitsonthepassengerseat,increasingthetotalseated

weightonthepassengerseatfromthetotalseatedweightofapproximately30kg(66

lb)isdangerous.Thepassengerseatweightsensorswilldetecttheincreasedtotal

seatedweight,whichcouldresultintheunexpecteddeploymentofthepassengerfront

andsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersysteminanaccidentandseriousinjury.

Increasingthetotalseatedweightonthepassengerseatbeyondthetotalseatedweight

ofapproximately30kg(66lb)couldresultinthepassengerfrontandsideairbags

andseatbeltpretensionersystemdeploymentinanaccidentunderthefollowing

conditions,forexample:

Thetotalseatedweightofthechildwiththechild-restraintsystemonthepassenger

seatisapproximately30kg(66lb)ormore.

Luggageorotheritemsareplacedontheseatwiththechildinthechild-restraint

system.

Theseatiswashed.

Liquidsarespilledontheseat.

Thepassengerseatismovedbackward,anditispushedintoluggageorotheritems

placedbehindit.

Luggageorotheritemsareplacedbetweenthepassengerseatandcenterconsole.

Anyaccessorieswhichmightincreasethetotalseatedweightonthepassengerseat

areattachedtothepassengerseat.

Thepassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemswill

deactivateifthetotalseatedweightonthepassengerseatiscloseto30kg(66lb)and

theywillreactivatebeforetheweightexceeds42kg(93lb).

CAUTION

Toassureproperdeploymentofthefrontairbagandtopreventdamagetothesensors

intheseatbottoms:

Donotplacesharpobjectsontheseatbottomsorleaveheavyluggageonthem.

Donotspillanyliquidsontheseatsorundertheseats.

Toallowthesensorstofunctionproperly,alwaysperformthefollowing:

Adjusttheseatsasfarbackaspossibleandalwayssituprightagainsttheseatbacks

withseatbeltswornproperly.

Ifyouplaceyourchildonthepassengerseat,securethechild-restraintsystem

properlyandslidethepassengerseatasfarbackaspossible.
