economy and performance when using
high quality unleaded gasoline having an
octaneratingof91.Thepurchaseofhigher
octaneisnotrequired.
Poor quality gasoline can cause problems such as hard
starting,stallingandhesitations.Ifyouexperiencethese
symptoms, try another brand of gasoline (with the ap-
propriateoctaneratingforyourengine)beforeconsider-
ingserviceforthevehicle.
Over 40 automobile manufacturers around the world
have issued and endorsed consistent gasoline specifica-
tions (the World Wide Fuel Charter, WWFC) to define
fuelpropertiesnecessarytodeliverenhancedemissions, 5
engineperformance,anddurabilityforyourvehicle.The
manufacturerrecommendstheuseofgasolinesthatmeet
theWWFCspecificationsiftheyareavailable.
The use of high quality unleaded gasoline having an
octane rating of 91 is recommended but not required.
High quality unleaded gasoline having a minumum
octaneratingof87maysafelybeusedforyourvehicle.
Useoftheseloweroctanegasolines,however,mayresult
inreducedaccelerationperformance.
ReformulatedGasoline
Lightsparkknockatlowenginespeedsisnotharmfulto
yourengine.However,continuedheavysparkknockat
highspeedscancausedamageandimmediateserviceis
required.
Many areas of the country require the use of cleaner
burninggasolinereferredtoas“ReformulatedGasoline”.
Reformulatedgasolinescontainoxygenates,andarespe-
cifically blended to reduce vehicle emissions and im-
proveairquality.
