Removethedipstickanddetermineifthefluidishot
CAUTION!
orwarm.Hotfluidisapproximately180°F(82°C),which
isthenormaloperatingtemperatureafterthevehiclehas
beendrivenatleast24km(15miles).Thefluidcannotbe
comfortableheldbetweenthefingertips.Warmiswhen
thefluidisbetween85°to125°F(29°to52°C).
Do not overfill. Dirt and water in the transaxle can
cause serious damage. To prevent dirt and water
fromenteringthetransaxleaftercheckingorreplen-
ishing fluid, make certain that the dipstick cap is
seatedproperly.
6.
Wipe the dipstick clean and reinsert until seated.
Removedipstickandnotereading.
FluidAndFilterChanges
Automatic transmission fluid and filter should be
changedasfollows:
Ifthefluidishot,readingshouldbeinthecrosshatched
areamarked“HOT”betweentheuppertwoholesinthe
dipstick.
Maintenance schedule “A”—Non Turbo Charged En- 7
gines–Nochangenecessary.
Ifthefluidiscold,thefluidlevelshouldbebetweenthe
lowertwoholes,intotheareamarked“LOW”.
Maintenanceschedule“A”—TurboChargedEngines–
Nochangenecessary.
Ifthefluidlevelshowslow,addsufficienttransmission
fluidtobringtotheproperlevel.
