Tongue weight rating for the trailer hitch utilized
− WhenreplacingtiresrefertotheTires–GeneralInfor-
mationsectionofthismanualonReplacementTiresfor
proper tire replacement procedures. Replacing tires
withahigherloadcarryingcapacitywillnotincrease
thevehicle’sGVWRandGAWRlimits.
(This requirement may limit the ability to always
achieve the 10% to 15% range of tongue weight as a
percentageoftotaltrailerweight).

Donotattempttotowatrailerwhileusingacompact
sparetire.

Do not interconnect the hydraulic brake system or
vacuumsystemofyourvehiclewiththatofthetrailer.
This could cause inadequate braking and possible
personalinjury.

Propertireinflationpressuresareessentialtothesafe
andsatisfactoryoperationofyourvehicle.Refertothe
Tires–General Information section of this manual on
TirePressuresforpropertireinflationprocedures.

An electronically actuated trailer brake controller is
required when towing a trailer with electronically
actuatedbrakes.Whentowingatrailerequippedwith
ahydraulicsurgeactuatedbrakesystem,anelectronic
brakecontrollerisnotrequired.

Also, check the trailer tires for proper tire inflation
pressuresbeforetrailerusage.
Check for signs of tire wear or visible tire damage
before towing a trailer. Refer to the Tires–General
Information section of this manual on Tread Wear
Indicatorsfortheproperinspectionprocedure.
− Trailerbrakesarerecommendedfortrailersover1,000
lbs(454kg)andrequiredfortrailersinexcessof2,000
lbs(907kg).
