Howtemperatureaffectsyourtirepressure
TheTirePressureMonitoringSystem(TPMS)monitorstirepressurein
eachpneumatictire.Whiledrivinginanormalmanner,atypical
passengertireinflationpressuremayincreaseapproximately2to4psi
(14
to28kPa)fromacoldstartsituation.Ifthevehicleisstationary
overnightwiththeoutsidetemperaturesignificantlylowerthanthe
daytimetemperature,thetirepressuremaydecreaseapproximately3psi
(20.7
kPa)foradropof30°F(16.6°C)inambienttemperature.This
lowerpressurevaluemaybedetectedbytheTPMSasbeingsignificantly
lowerthantherecommendedinflationpressureandactivatetheTPMS
warningforlowtirepressure.Ifthelowtirepressurewarninglightis
ON,visuallycheckeachtiretoverifythatnotireisflat.(Ifoneormore
tiresareflat,repairasnecessary.)Checkairpressureintheroadtires.If
