Four-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS)
YourvehicleisequippedwithanAnti-lockBrakingSystem(ABS).This
systemhelpsyoumaintainsteeringcontrolduringemergencystopsby
keepingthebrakesfromlocking.NoisefromtheABSpumpmotorand
brakepedalpulsationmaybeobservedduringABSbrakingandthe
brakepedalmaysuddenlytravelalittlefartherassoonasABSbrakingis
doneandnormalbrakeoperationresumes.Thesearenormal
characteristicsoftheABSandshouldbenoreasonforconcern.
UsingABS
Whenhardbrakingisrequired,applycontinuousforceonthebrake
pedal;donotpumpthebrakepedalsincethiswillreducethe
effectivenessoftheABSandwillincreaseyourvehicle’sstopping
distance.TheABSwillbeactivatedimmediately,allowingyoutoretain
steeringcontrolduringhardbrakingandonslipperysurfaces.However,
theABSdoesnotdecreasestoppingdistance.

whentheignitionisturnedon.If
thelightdoesnotilluminateduring
startup,remainsonorflashes,the
ABSmaybedisabledandmayneedtobeserviced.
