Child restraint and safety belt maintenance
Inspectthevehiclesafetybeltsandchildsafetyseatsystemsperiodically
tomakesuretheyworkproperlyandarenotdamaged.Inspectthe
vehicleandchildseatsafetybeltstomakesuretherearenonicks,tears
orcuts.Replaceifnecessary.Allvehiclesafetybeltassemblies,including
retractors,buckles,frontsafetybeltbuckleassemblies,bucklesupport
assemblies(slidebar-ifequipped),shoulderbeltheightadjusters(if
equipped),shoulderbeltguideonseatback(ifequipped),childsafety
seatLATCHandtetheranchors,andattachinghardware,shouldbe
inspectedafteracollision.Refertothechildrestraintmanufacturer’s
instructionsforadditionalinspectionandmaintenanceinformation
specifictothechildrestraint.FordMotorCompanyrecommendsthatall
safetybeltassembliesinuseinvehiclesinvolvedinacollisionbe
replaced.However,ifthecollisionwasminorandanauthorizeddealer
findsthatthebeltsdonotshowdamageandcontinuetooperate
properly,theydonotneedtobereplaced.Safetybeltassembliesnotin
useduringacollisionshouldalsobeinspectedandreplacedifeither
damageorimproperoperationisnoted.

WARNING:Failuretoinspectandifnecessaryreplacethe
safetybeltassemblyorchildrestraintsystemundertheabove
conditionscouldresultinseverepersonalinjuriesintheeventofa
