Ifthelightremainsilluminatedafterthe
engineisstarted,orilluminateswhile
driving,turnofftheengineafterparking
inasafeplace,andthenstarttheengine
again.
Ifthelightdoesnotilluminateafter
restartingtheengine,thisindicatesthat
thepowersteeringisrestoredandnormal
steeringispossible.
PowerSteering
Powersteeringisonlyoperablewhenthe
engineisrunning.Iftheengineisofforif
thepowersteeringsystemisinoperable,
youcanstillsteer,butitrequiresmore
physicaleffort.
Ifthesteeringfeelsstifferthanusual
duringnormaldriving,consultan
AuthorizedMazdaDealer.
Ifthelightremainsilluminated,thepower
steeringisstillinoperable.Consultan
AuthorizedMazdaDealer.
CAUTION
NOTE
Neverholdthesteeringwheeltothe
extremeleftorrightformorethan5
secondswiththeenginerunning.
Thiscoulddamagethepower
steeringsystem.
Thepowersteeringsystemisinoperable

whenthepowersteeringmalfunction
indicatorlightilluminates.Steeringis
possible,butrequiresmorephysicaleffort.
Repeatedlyjerkingthesteeringwheelleft
l
andrightwhilethevehicleisstoppedor
movingextremelyslowlywillcausethe
powersteeringsystemtogointoprotective
modewhichwillmakethesteeringfeel
heavy,butthisdoesnotindicatea
qPowerSteeringMalfunction
IndicatorLight
malfunction.Ifthisoccurs,parkthevehicle
safelyandwaitafewminutesforthesystem
toreturntonormal.
Thisindicatorlightilluminateswhenthe
ignitionswitchisturnedtotheON
position,andturnsoffwhentheengineis
started.
