Thisindicatorlightilluminateswhenthe
ignitionswitchisturnedtotheON
position,andturnsoffwhentheengineis
started.
Whenoperatingtheturnsignallights,the
leftorrightturnsignalindicatorlight
flashestoindicatewhichturnsignallight
isoperating(page5-53).
Ifthelightremainsilluminatedafterthe
engineisstarted,orilluminateswhile
driving,turnofftheengineafterparking
inasafeplace,andthenstarttheengine
again.
Ifthelightdoesnotilluminateafter
restartingtheengine,thisindicatesthat
thepowersteeringisrestoredandnormal
steeringispossible.
Whenoperatingthehazardwarning
lights,bothturnsignalindicatorlights
flash(page5-60).
NOTE
Ifanindicatorlightremainsilluminated(does
notflash)orifitflashesabnormally,oneofthe
turnsignalbulbsmaybeburnedout.
Ifthelightremainsilluminated,thepower
steeringisstillinoperable.Consultan
AuthorizedMazdaDealer.
NOTE
Thepowersteeringsystemisinoperable

whenthepowersteeringmalfunction
indicatorlightilluminates.Steeringis
possible,butrequiresmorephysicaleffort.
Repeatedlyjerkingthesteeringwheelleft
l
andrightwhilethevehicleisstoppedor
movingextremelyslowlywillcausethe
powersteeringsystemtogointoprotective
modewhichwillmakethesteeringfeel
heavy,butthisdoesnotindicatea
malfunction.Ifthisoccurs,parkthevehicle
safelyandwaitafewminutesforthesystem
toreturntonormal.
