WARNING
To avoid any sudden discharge of fuel
caused by excessive air pressure, the cap is
designed to allow the fuel tank to vent
during the first half turn. DONOTfully
remove the cap until pressure has been
released. The cap should be removed and
placed in the retaining bracket on the rear of
the flap until refuelling is complete.
DONOTfully fill the tank if the vehicle is to
be parked on a slope in direct sunlight or
high ambient temperature - expansion of the
fuel could cause spillage.

In the case of vehicles fitted with a catalytic
converter, running the fuel tank dry could
create an engine misfire capable of damaging
the catalytic converter.
If you have run the fuel tank dry and have
refilled the tank, turn the starter switch to
position ’II’. After 4 seconds, switch off and
then return the switch to position ’II’for a
further 4 seconds before operating the starter
motor; do not press the accelerator pedal
during starting, and RELEASETHEKEYas
soon as the engine is running.
Fuel filling

Petroleum and dieselgases are highly
inflammable and, in confined spaces, are
also extremelyexplosive. Always take
sensible precautions when refuelling:
Filling station pumps are equipped with
automatic cut-off sensing to avoid fuel
spillage; only fill the tank until the filler nozzle
automaticallycuts-off the supply. DONOT
attempt to fill the tank beyond this point or
spillage could result due to expansion of the
fuel.

Switch off the engine.
Do not smoke or use a naked flame
or light.
On petrol engine vehicles which are designed
to operate ONLYon unleaded fuel, the fuel
tank filler neck will ONLYaccept a narrow filler
nozzle of the type found on pumps that deliver
unleaded fuel.

Do not overfillthe tank.
On petrol engine vehicles which are designed
to operate on leaded fuel, the fuel tank filler
neck will accept the wider filler nozzles found
on pumps that deliver LEADEDfuel.
