Introduction
VEHICLEIDENTIFICATION
ANTI-THEFTPRECAUTIONS
While it may be difficult to deter the
’professional’car thief, the majorityof thefts
are carried out by unskilled opportunists.
Therefore, take vehicle securityveryseriously
and ALWAYS adopt this simple ’four point’
drillwhenever you leave your vehicle - even
for just a few minutes:
If you need to communicate with a Land
Rover dealer, you may be asked to quote the
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
The VIN(and recommended maximum vehicle
weights) is stamped on a labelfixed to the top
panel above the left hand headlight (viewed
from the driver’s seat). This should also
match the VINrecorded in the Service
Portfolio book.
1. Fullyclose all the windows (and the
sunroof).
In addition, as a deterrent to car thieves and to
assist the police, the VINis also stamped on a
plate which is visible through the left side of
the windscreen.
2. Remove your valuable belongings (or hide
them out of sight).
3.
4.
Remove the starter key.
Superlockthe vehicle using the remote
handset.
Thieves are attracted by ’vulnerable’vehicles.
Even if you have followed the ’four point’drill,
there is stillmuch you can do to make your
vehicle a less inviting target.

F. Built date
At home, if you have a garage, use it - and
NEVER leave the keys in the vehicle.
Do not keep important documents (or
spare keys) in the vehicle - these are a real
bonus for the thief.
BUILTDATE
On Australian vehicles, the built date is shown
on a plate located in the engine compartment
on the top of the front grille closing panel.
The built date means the calendar month and
year in which the body shelland power train
sub-assemblies are conjoined and the vehicle
is driven or moved from the production line.
