Fastening inertia reel seat belts
Draw the belt over the shoulder and across
the chest, and insert the metal tongue plate
into the lock nearest the wearer; a ’click’
indicates that the belt is securelylocked.
Seat belts are designed to bear upon the bony
structure of the body (pelvis, chest and
shoulders) and can only be worn safelywith
the seats in the normal UPRIGHTposition; DO
NOTallow the front passenger to travelwith
the seat steeplyreclined. (See also ’Seating
positions’in the ’Airbag SRS’section of this
handbook).
Fastening lap belts
The rear centralseating position is fitted with
a lap belt. To adjust, pull the slider (arrowed in
illustration) along the belt and feed the
webbing through the buckle until the belt is
comfortablytight. Insert the metal tongue
plate into the lock nearest to the centre of the
vehicle.
Upper anchorage adjustment
The height of the seat belt upper anchorage
can be adjusted for comfort ANDsafety. Press
and hold the button (arrowed in the upper
illustration) to raise or lower.
WARNING
No modifications or additions should be
made by the user which will either prevent
the seat belt adjusting devices from
operating to remove slack, or prevent the
seat belt assembly from being adjusted to
remove slack.
For maximum benefit, the seat belt should
always be worn with the webbing crossing the
shoulder MIDWAYBETWEENTHENECKAND
THEEDGEOFTHESHOULDER.
Ensure that the anchorage has ’clicked’into
one of the locked positions before driving.
