TRACTION CONTROLி (IF EQUIPPED)
YourvehiclemaybeequippedwithaTractionControl௢system.This
systemhelpsyoumaintainthestabilityandsteerabilityofyourvehicle,
especiallyonslipperyroadsurfacessuchassnow-orice-coveredroads
andgravelroads.Thesystemwillallowyourvehicletomakebetteruse
ofavailabletractionintheseconditions.
DuringTractionControl௢operation,
thetractioncontrolactivelightwill
illuminate,youmayhearanelectric
motortypeofsoundcomingfrom
theenginecompartmentandthe
enginewillnot“rev-up”whenyoupushfurtherontheaccelerator.This
isnormalsystembehaviorandshouldbenoreasonforconcern.
Atspeedsbelow85km/h(53mph),boththeengineandthebrake
systemwillbeusedtocontrolwheelspin;atspeedsabove85km/h(53
mph),onlyenginetorquereductionisused.WhentheTractionControl௢
systemisswitchedoff,thebrakingsystemwillstillbeusedtocontrol
wheelspinatspeedsbelow40km/h(25mph).
TheTractionControl௢switchis
locatedonthecenterconsole,by
thegearshiftlever.TheTraction
Control௢systemwillautomatically
turnoneverytimetheignitionis
turnedoffandon.
Ifyoushouldbecomestuckinsnow
oriceoronaveryslipperyroad
surface,tryswitchingtheTractionControl௢systemoffbypressingthe
switch.Thismayallowexcesswheelspinto“dig”thevehicleoutand
enableasuccessful“rocking”maneuver.Ifyouwanttoturnoffthe
TractionControl௢systembeawarethat,forsafetyreasons,theswitch
mustbepressedandheldforatleastonesecondbeforethesystemis
turnedoff.
Ifasystemfaultisdetected,thetractioncontrolactivelightwill
illuminate,theTractionControl௢buttonwillnotturnthesystemonor
offandyourvehicleshouldbeserviced.
