PRESSURE CAP WHEN THE COOLING SYSTEM IS
HOT.
Check engine coolant (antifreeze) protection every 12
months (before the onset of freezing weather, where
applicable).Ifcoolantisdirtyorrustyinappearance,the
systemshouldbedrained,flushedandrefilledwithfresh
coolant. Check the front of the A/C condenser for any
accumulationofbugs,leaves,etc.Ifdirty,cleanbygently
spraying water from a garden hose vertically down the
faceofthecondenser.
CoolingSystem—Drain,FlushandRefill
Attheintervalsshowninthemaintenanceschedules,the
systemshouldbedrained,flushedandrefilled.
Ifthesolutionisdirtyorcontainsaconsiderableamount
of sediment, clean and flush with a reliable cooling
systemcleaner.Followwithathoroughrinsingtoremove
all deposits and chemicals. Properly dispose of old
antifreezesolution.
Checkthecoolantrecoverybottletubingforbrittlerub-
ber,cracking,tears,cutsandtightnessoftheconnection
at the bottle and radiator. Inspect the entire system for
leaks.

SelectionOfCoolant
Useonlythemanufacturersrecommendedcoolant,refer
to Recommended Fluids, Lubricants and Genuine Parts
forcorrectcoolanttype.
With the engine at normal operating temperature (but
not running), check the coolant pressure cap for proper
vacuum sealing by draining a small amount of coolant
from the radiator drain cock. If the cap is sealing prop-
erly, the coolant will begin to drain from the coolant
